Today we worked on learning about Carl Von Linné and his system of animal classification. We explored and spoke about the various Phyla as an introduction before creating and laminating some Montessori materials to practice matching the names, pictures, and characteristics of each phyla.
We continued our drilling and memorization over 'Taco Friday' which Jay prepared. We compared the animals we met at Tanglewood Nature Reserve last week only to realize that they were all Phylum Chordata. Our only hiccup was my having to convince Jay and Holly that the tortoise and snakes we saw actually had backbones and were not related mollusks and worms due to their shell and shapes. The tacos were followed by apple crumble and ice cream. Meanwhile I couldn't eat being so annoyed that Jay had spilled a drink over one of the MacBook Pros putting it out of action. His kill list now involves two Apple keyboards, one Apple mouse, two PC keyboards, one PC mouse, one gaming PC, a MacBook Pro, and his first kill at age three - a MacBook Air.
